Posted: September 30, 2014 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: Alzheimer's Association, Alzheimer's Disease, DIAN, Dr. John Morris, OASIS Leave a commentThe world is blessed to have Dr. John Morris alive & well at Washington University in St. Louis, MO! Listening to him speak on behalf of Missouri Cures Education Foundation, OASIS, & the Alzheimer’s Association, generated all types of positive, learning emotions, including curiosity, frustration (regarding low Alzheimer’s Disease research funding), joy (learning how low my & my family’s risk is), determination, satisfaction (knowing worldwide Alzheimer’s research hub/DIAN is headquartered in St. Louis)…to name a few… What an exceptional speaker/doctor, who took the time after his presentation, to sincerely & simply answer questions from the audience! Surely everybody got the feeling they can trust John Morris & help to move his Alzheimer’s Disease/DIAN research forward!

MU’s Regenerative Medicine Symposium well worth attending
Posted: September 16, 2014 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: Biomedical Innovations, MU Institute for Clinical & Translational Science, Regenerative Medicine Symposium, University of Missouri School of Medicine Leave a commentRemember the time when ‘pinch me’ was a common phrase used when witnessing an extraordinary happening?
The BIG event held at the University of Missouri-Columbia, organized by the MU Institute for Clinical and Translational Science, MU Biodesign and Innovation Program, MU Coulter Translational Partnership Program, MU Office of Technology Management and Industry Relations, & Mizzou Advantage, was a ‘pinch me’ presentation!

Dr. Lilianna Solnica-Krezel’s presentation, “Regenerative Medicine: Opportunities for Biomedical Innovation”
was so exciting, as she described the remarkable research in Regenerative Medicine happening at Washington University! Such a plesure to work with Dr. Jerry Parker & his staff! Bonus to meet Dr. Angela Bowman, Executive Director of the Washington University Center for Regenerative Medicine.
Hope MU does this again:-)

Thankfully, Hannibal is, & will always be, Hannibal:-)
Posted: September 15, 2014 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: Hannibal, Hannibal Evening Kiwanis, Margaret Tobin, William Lear Leave a commentJust as the people of Hannibal inspired Mark Twain’s characters, I found the members of Hannibal’s Evening Kiwanis Club to also be inspirational! Unlike many clubs that recruit new members from ‘young-uns’, Hannibal’s Evening Kiwanis welcomed their newest member, at age 82!
Thanks to Debbie G. for being such a wonderful host!

I suppose my enjoyment of Hannibal & its history is also influenced by another Margaret, who came from Hannibal, Margaret Tobin, the “Unsinkable” Molly Brown. Why was I not surprised to learn of another famous son of Hannibal, William Lear, the designer of the Lear jet!
Great people, great things continue to happen in Hannibal!
KCALSI Annual Dinner 2014 was the place to be on Sept. 9!
Posted: September 9, 2014 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: KCALSI Annual Dinner, Midland Theater Leave a commentThis year’s KCALSI Annual Dinner was very well attended! Was it because of this year’s location at the Midland Theater? Was it because this year’s program was over the top? Surely it was a combination of both – BRAVO Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute!

This year’s program included an exciting Silent Auction, with images curated by Sarah Hearn and Erin Olm-Shipman of the Collectors Fund. Proceeds from the silent auction will support STEAM education, an integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Art.

It was great to work with such a talented group in such a legendary location!
